Alias Speedform

SpeedForm is a companion application to Alias that allows designers and digital sculptors to quickly transform 2D sketches and curves into 3D design concepts using polygon modeling workflows. Customer and industry research identified a variety of workflow enhancements and innovation opportunities that would attract the younger generation of designers as well as provide workflows for seasoned automotive designers. I was the lead experience designer throughout the project.

Alias Speedform is a design tool created for designers that typically work in 2D but need to evolve their work into 3D form. The tools and workflows provide a learn-as-you-go experience and allows for those new to 3D to rapidly create 3D models that accurately portray their design intent.

Sample wireframe concepts for improving drop-down tool bars by minimizing overlap of application interface elements over the design canvas window. Early concepts were shared in user forums and feedback informed the final design concept.

To minimize the amount of cascading windows and toolbars over a designers workspace, I introduced customizable tool palettes that float in-canvas or dock and collapse to reduce visual distractions during common modeling workflows

With minimal research time between design sprints, a variety of low and high fidelity mock-ups were used to identify ideal feature locations through user task analysis sessions.
